TWELFTH HOUSEPSYCHOTHERAPY

House I · ADHD therapy in Toronto

ADHD therapy that works with your brain.

For teens and adults who are tired of being told to try harder. In person in Toronto and Etobicoke, or online anywhere in Ontario.

You're not lazy. You're running a different operating system.

ADHD isn't a shortage of willpower. It's a difference in how attention, motivation and time are wired. When the world is built for a different brain, it's easy to grow up believing the problem is you.

Therapy here starts from the other end: understanding how your brain actually works, letting go of the shame that years of "just focus" left behind, and building a life that fits.

Sound familiar?

The parts of ADHD nobody sees.

  • i

    Starting is the hardest part

You know exactly what to do. Your brain still won’t let you begin, even when it matters.

  • ii

    Time slips through your fingers

Five minutes becomes an hour, or a deadline arrives out of nowhere. Again.

  • iii

    Everything or nothing

Hyperfocus for hours on one thing, then nothing left for the rest.

  • iv

    Rejection hits like a wall

A small comment can floor you for days. Often called rejection sensitive dysphoria.

  • v

A mind that won’t switch off

Racing thoughts at bedtime, ten tabs open in your head all day.

  • vi

    A late diagnosis

Relief at finally having a name for it, and grief for the years spent thinking you were failing.

Working together

How ADHD therapy helps.

We go at a pace that suits your brain, drawing on Internal Family Systems, self-compassion and strengths-based work. Sessions can be structured or free-flowing, whatever keeps you engaged.

  1. 1

    Make sense of your brain

Map how ADHD shows up for you: what drains you, what lights you up, where you get stuck.

  2. 2

    Quiet the inner critic

Years of "too much" and "not enough" leave a loud critic. We work with that part gently, rather than fighting it.

  3. 3

    Build systems that fit

Routines, reminders and structure designed around your strengths, not borrowed from someone else’s brain.

  4. 4

    Tend the relationships

ADHD shows up with partners, family and at work. Couples and family sessions are available when that helps.

FAQ

ADHD therapy, your questions

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

No. Many clients are self-identified, waiting on an assessment, or just wondering. As a Registered Psychotherapist I don't diagnose, but I can help you make sense of what you're noticing and point you to assessment options if you want one.

Can you diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication?

No. ADHD assessment and diagnosis are done by physicians and psychologists, and medication is prescribed by doctors. Therapy works well alongside both, and I'm glad to work alongside your care team.

Do you work with teens?

Yes. I work with teens and adults, individually or with family members when that helps.

What's the difference between ADHD therapy and ADHD coaching?

Coaching focuses mainly on habits and productivity. Therapy covers those too, and also the emotional side of ADHD: shame, anxiety, rejection sensitivity, burnout and relationships.

Is therapy in person or online?

Both. In person at offices in central-west Toronto (M6G) and Etobicoke (M8Z), or online by secure video anywhere in Ontario. Camera on or off.

How much does it cost, and will insurance cover it?

Individual sessions are $170 and couples sessions $185. Most extended health plans cover Registered Psychotherapists. You pay by card and get a detailed receipt to submit; there's no direct billing.
