TWELFTH HOUSEPSYCHOTHERAPY

House II · Autism therapy in Toronto

Autism therapy, without the masking.

Neuroaffirming therapy for autistic teens and adults, including late-diagnosed and self-identified. In Toronto, Etobicoke or online across Ontario.

Nothing about you needs fixing. The world could use some adjusting.

Many autistic people, especially women and non-binary people, learn early to copy what looks "normal." It gets you through, but it costs a lot of energy, and it can hide who you are, even from yourself.

Therapy here doesn't try to make you seem less autistic. It's a place to put the mask down, understand your needs, and recover from years of running on empty.

Sound familiar?

What masking can cost.

  • i

    Exhausted after "normal" days

Work, errands, a coffee with a friend, then nothing left for hours or days.

  • ii

    Sensory overload

Sounds, lights, textures and crowds that others barely notice can flatten you.

  • iii

    Scripts and rehearsals

Practising conversations in your head before you have them, and replaying them after.

  • iv

    Change throws the whole day

A cancelled plan or a new route can knock everything off balance.

  • v

    Burnout that keeps coming back

Cycles of coping, then crashing, sometimes losing skills you used to have.

  • vi

    Finding out later in life

A late or self-identified diagnosis that reframes everything, and raises new questions.

Working together

How autism therapy helps.

Sessions follow your communication style: talking, typing, or a mix. We use attachment-based, relational and IFS approaches, and the pace is always yours.

  1. 1

    Unmask somewhere safe

Practise being yourself in a room with no performance required, then decide where else you want to.

  2. 2

Map your sensory and energy needs

Notice what drains and what restores you, and build days around that instead of against it.

  3. 3

    Recover from burnout

Rest first. Then rebuild slowly, at a pace your nervous system can hold.

  4. 4

    Self-advocacy and relationships

Find words for your needs with partners, family and work, and set boundaries that hold.

In session

Therapy that bends to fit you.

Neuroaffirming means the room adapts to you, not the other way round.

  • Lighting & soundLights down, noise low. Tell me what helps.
  • Breaks, any timePause, stretch, step out. No explanation needed.
  • Type instead of talkChat, notes or voice: whatever works that day.
  • Camera optionalOnline sessions with the camera on or off.
  • Fidgets welcomeMove, doodle, pace. Stimming is fine here.
  • Your wordsI use the language you use for yourself.

Two ways to meet. Same care either way.

FAQ

Autism therapy, your questions

Do I need a formal autism diagnosis?

No. Self-identified autistic people are welcome, as are people who are exploring the question. As a Registered Psychotherapist I don't diagnose, but I can talk through assessment options with you.

Is this ABA or social skills training?

No. I don't use ABA or any approach that aims to make you seem less autistic. The goal is understanding and wellbeing, not compliance.

Can I communicate by typing?

Yes. You can type in the chat during video sessions, bring written notes, or mix talking and typing.

Do you work with late-diagnosed women and non-binary adults?

Yes. Late diagnosis, masking and burnout are central to my work.

Is therapy in person or online?

Both. In person at offices in central-west Toronto (M6G) and Etobicoke (M8Z), or online by secure video anywhere in Ontario. Camera on or off.

How much does it cost, and will insurance cover it?

Individual sessions are $170 and couples sessions $185. Most extended health plans cover Registered Psychotherapists. You pay by card and get a detailed receipt to submit; there's no direct billing.
