TWELFTH HOUSEPSYCHOTHERAPY

House III · AuDHD therapy

AuDHD therapy for when you’re both, at once.

What AuDHD is, why it’s so often missed, and how therapy helps when your needs pull in opposite directions.

iiiivvviviiviiiixxxixiiiii

What is AuDHD? Autistic and ADHD, together.

AuDHD is a community term for being both autistic and ADHD. It isn’t a separate diagnosis. Clinicians have been able to diagnose autism and ADHD together since 2013, and many people turn out to have both.

The two can mask each other. ADHD can hide autistic traits, and autistic routines can hide ADHD, so many AuDHD people are diagnosed late, or only with one. Advice built for one side often clashes with the other, which is exhausting.

Autistic and ADHD. Both, at once.

Your needs pull in opposite directions, and most therapists only work with one side. We work with both, so the advice finally stops contradicting itself.

Working together

How AuDHD therapy helps.

Most therapists work with one side or the other. Here we work with both, so the advice finally stops contradicting itself.

  1. 1

    Honour both sides

Name what the autistic side needs and what the ADHD side needs, without making either one wrong.

  2. 2

    Design for contradiction

Routines with room for novelty, quiet with built-in stimulation. Structures that flex instead of break.

  3. 3

    Prevent the crash

AuDHD burnout can creep up fast. We learn your early warning signs and build in recovery.

  4. 4

    Make sense of the story

A late or partial diagnosis can reframe your whole history. We make room for relief, grief and everything between.

FAQ

AuDHD therapy, your questions

Is AuDHD a real diagnosis?

AuDHD isn't a formal diagnosis on its own. It's a community word for having both autism and ADHD, which can be diagnosed together.

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

No. Many clients are self-identified, waiting on an assessment, or just wondering. As a Registered Psychotherapist I don't diagnose, but I can help you make sense of what you're noticing and point you to assessment options if you want one.

How is AuDHD therapy different?

It holds both sides at once. Strategies that help ADHD (like novelty) can overwhelm the autistic side, and vice versa, so we design approaches that work for the whole of you.

I only have one diagnosis. Is this for me?

It might be. Many people diagnosed with one later recognise traits of the other. You can explore that here without needing a label first.

Is therapy in person or online?

Both. In person at offices in central-west Toronto (M6G) and Etobicoke (M8Z), or online by secure video anywhere in Ontario. Camera on or off.

How much does it cost, and will insurance cover it?

Individual sessions are $170 and couples sessions $185. Most extended health plans cover Registered Psychotherapists. You pay by card and get a detailed receipt to submit; there's no direct billing.
